BODY NON-SURGICAL PROCEDURES

CHEMICAL PEEL

As a skin rejuvenation treatment, a chemical peel can improve your skin’s appearance. This procedure consists of a chemical solution being applied to the face that will make it peel, eliminating the outer and damaged layer of skin, at the same time that reveals a newer, healthier and brighter layer.

CANDIDACY

Chemical peels can be an effective treatment for the following skin conditions:

-Superficial scars
-Acne scars
-Dark spots
-Uneven skin coloring
-Wrinkles
-Sun damage
-Crow’s feet

RECOVERY TIME

Depending on the depth of the chemical peel applied to your skin, the recovery time could range from a few hours up to two weeks. After the session, you can expect redness and swelling. New skin will emerge during the first week, and after that, your face may be pink during several weeks.

For deeper peels, it can take several weeks to go back to its normal color. Also, you should avoid bending and lifting after the procedure. Normally you could go back to work within two weeks.

Types of chemical peels

Depending on the depth of the peel, chemical peels can have a range of strengths. From deep, strong peels to superficial and light peels. The chemical solution used can vary from one to another as well. Here are some types of chemical peels:
-Alpha-Hydroxy Acid Peels: This type of peel is one of the most superficials. While a single treatment can give you fresher, healthier appearance, repeated treatments can improve skin’s textures. This peel doesn’t need any anesthetic nos sedation and you can go back to your daily routine after the procedure.
-TAC Peel: This peel is mostly used to treat wrinkles, pigmentation, and blemishes. It has less bleaching effects than the peels that contain phenol, which makes it better for spot peeling.
-Deep Phenol Peel: This peel contains phenol, sometimes called carbolic acid. It can treat both fine and deep wrinkles, hyper pigmentation, blotchiness, as well as severely sun-damaged skin. Unlike other peels, this one can’t be applied to your neck.
